Careers
We are 214 people in six offices, about a third of us clinicians. Every vacancy we advertise shows its salary, and every applicant who reaches interview gets feedback.
Open vacancies
-
Clinical Reviewer, Independent Implant Register
Read reports of harm from optical implants, decide which need urgent attention and help the Register’s clinical panel find patterns.
-
Programme Officer, Continuity
Help keep discontinued implants working: manage repair partners in North America, the spares library and the replacement fund.
-
Grants Officer, Mieru
Manage Mieru screening grants in Nepal and Bangladesh, from outline to final report, and the small grants that schools use to run screening themselves.
-
Data Protection Engineer, Shared Sight
Build and test the systems that keep Shared Sight donors anonymous and their data safe, and make deletion requests work every time.
Pay and benefits
We publish the salary band for every post, and pay within it according to experience, not negotiation. The ratio of the highest salary to the median in Japan is 3.4 to 1. Staff outside Japan are paid against local markets for comparable non-profit roles.
All staff have at least twenty days’ holiday plus public holidays, a pension, health insurance, and a free eye examination and spectacles every year, which we mention because people ask.
How we hire
Applications are by email with a CV and a letter of no more than two pages. We do not use automated screening. Shortlisted candidates do a short paid task related to the job, then an interview with three people, one of whom is from outside the hiring team.
Tell us if you need adjustments at any stage: documents in another format, extra time, an interpreter, a screen reader-friendly task. Several of our staff, including our lead for low vision, are blind or partially sighted.
Staff may not hold shares in Kiroshi Opticals or any other implant maker, other than through a pension fund they do not control. Applications to careers@kiroshi.org.
