Warning
Grant fraud warning
People sometimes pretend to be the Kiroshi Foundation in order to take money from charities, clinics and individuals. In 2026 we have been told of 23 such approaches, most by messaging app.
Signs
It is not us if
- You are asked to pay anything to apply for, receive or “release” a grant. We never charge a fee of any kind.
- You are told you have won a grant you did not apply for. We do not give unsolicited grants to individuals.
- You are contacted from an email address that does not end in @kiroshi.org, or by a messaging app, social media or a personal phone number.
- You are asked for bank details, identity documents or passwords before a grant agreement has been signed.
- You are offered a free or discounted implant, or told the Foundation is “partnering” with a clinic to fit implants. We do not sell implants or arrange for people with normal sight to be fitted with them.
- You are asked to keep the offer secret, or to decide quickly.
Report
If you are approached
Do not pay, and do not send documents. Forward the message to grants@kiroshi.org with “Fraud” in the subject line, and report it to the police where you are. We will confirm within two working days whether an offer is genuine.
If you have already paid, contact your bank immediately. We are sorry: we cannot refund money paid to people pretending to be us, but we report every case to the police and to the platforms used, and we publish the methods fraudsters use so that others can recognise them.
